Keys to Literacy Events

Ohio Literacy Dyslexia Professional Development Dyslexia-4-12-Course - New course that qualifies for the professional development requirements for educators providing instruction to students in grades 4-12. This free course is one option available to educators to meet the professional development requirements of Ohio's Dyslexia Support Laws.

Ohio Materials Matter Statewide Webinar Series - Join EdReports and the Department for a series of statewide webinars to learn more about Ohio's initiative for selecting and implementing high-quality instructional materials. Districts and schools are encouraged to attend and utilize the session materials, resources and recordings.

Professional Learning for Mathematics Statewide Webinars - The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, in partnership with the Ohio ESC Association, is offering professional learning to expand educators’ understanding of Ohio's Learning Standards for Mathematics and the Standards for Mathematical Practice.

Professional Development in the Science of Reading - Under Section 265.330(A)(2) of House Bill 33 of the 135th General Assembly, districts and schools shall require all teachers and administrators to complete a course provided by the Department not later than June 30, 2025, except that any teacher or administrator who has previously completed similar training, as determined by the Department, shall not be required to complete the course.

Professional Learning for American Sign Language (ASL) - Registration is open for a free in-person professional learning day for Ohio ASL teachers. The event will be held in Columbus on June 20, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The deadline to register is May 15 and is limited to 40 participants. ASL interpreters will be onsite and contact hours will be provided. This event is hosted by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and the Ohio ASL Instructors Network.

Supporting Heritage Learners in World Languages - Ohio world language educators are invited to participate in a virtual learning series for supporting Heritage Learners in the language classroom. Heritage Learners are students who already have some linguistic skills and/or cultural ties to the world language being taught.

This free interactive series from Avant More Learning will take place July 15-17 from 9:30-11 a.m. each day. Contact hours will be provided by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Teaching Financial Literacy Institute - July 8, 9 and 10th, 2024, This multi-day event for K12 educators returns to The University of Akron! The Institute includes powerful sessions led by experienced educators & industry professionals, spaces for networking, and access to standards-based instructional resources, assessments, & research, & includes a special off-site charter to the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. All meals, supplies, speakers, and charter included!
