Contest Announcement!

The Youngstown Board of Education is hosting a poster contest for YCSD scholars for National Bullying Prevention Month. Recognized every October, National Bullying Prevention Month is a time to focus on and raise awareness of bullying and cyberbullying.

A top winner will be awarded by elementary, middle school, and high school. Posters should illustrate the ways our district can stop in-person bullying and cyberbullying. And did we mention that there will be prizes?!

Contest Details

• Posters must be photographed and emailed by teachers or another admin to Stacy Quinones from now-October 31 by 4:00 p.m. The name of the image must include the scholar's name, grade, and school.
• The mediums can be digital or on poster board or paper, no larger than 11x17.
• Winners will be announced at the November Board Meeting.

Schools are encouraged to display the artwork in their schools and show how our scholars are committed to combating bullying in all forms.

Bonus Contests

What hashtags can the district use to highlight our commitment to anti-bullying and cyberbullying? Scholars can submit their ideas for something clever no one may have even thought of. Remember, hashtags are short keyword phrases prefaced with a # sign. They represent a specific cause, business, organization, campaign, etc. For example, #YCSDFamily.

Additionally, scholars can create a Friendship Contract. They can describe what they feel is a recipe for being a good friend or making new friendships.

The Board of Education looks forward to reviewing everyone's work! Check out these facts about cyberbullying, and spread the word about National Bullying Prevention Month.
