Classroom and donation photos

Rayen Early College Middle School (RECMS) is thrilled to announce its recent partnership with the Mahoning County Dog Warden Friends of Fido, which has resulted in a heartwarming display of generosity and compassion from our scholars. Over the past several weeks, our school community rallied together to collect a staggering 130 items for donation to the shelter, ranging from essentials like soap, Lysol wipes, bleach, food, toys, and more.

In a special visit to our fifth-grade classes, Lisa Hill, the kennel supervisor, emphasized the vital role literacy plays in caring for animals, highlighting the importance of being able to read, write, and meticulously follow instructions. Hill eloquently tied this discussion into RECMS recent Right to Read Week, underscoring how literacy skills directly impact the well-being of shelter animals with specific medical needs and care instructions.

RECMS is immensely grateful for the opportunity to support such a worthy cause and we eagerly anticipate further collaboration with Friends of Fido in the future. This partnership not only enriches our scholar's educational experience but also instills in them the values of empathy, responsibility, and community service. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our furry

friends, one act of kindness at a time.
