Youngstown City School District (YCSD) is pleased to announce the Rope of Hope: The Responders, The Rescue, The Relief community resource event on Saturday, February 18, from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. in the commons area of Choffin Career and Technical Center, 200 W. Wood Street.

"With the pandemic, and increased need for mental health care, the district wanted to approach the resource event holistically,” said YCSD Superintendent Justin Jennings.“We’re providing our families in transition and community with resources that support physical, nutritional, emotional, and mental health. In addition, expose them to experts in their field who are there to encourage and inspire life changes.”

All are welcome to attend and hear and learn from renowned speakers, including the keynote address by Garrick Matlock, YCSD Assistant McKinney-Vento Liaison and Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist. Other main guests include Dr. Nichole Murray, Education Director for a national non-profit and founder of One Degree Hire. Additionally, Dr. David M. Davis, M.D., Dawn Powell, CEO of Guiding Light Counseling, Tricia Goodnough, Culinary Arts Instructor at Choffin Career and Technical Center, and a special spoken word by East High School alumna, author, and certified transformational life coach, Tei’Asha De’Anne. 

During the event, six YCSD employees will also be honored as “Harambee Heroes” for their commitment to scholars, education, and leadership and for representing the meaning of Harambee, defined as “all pull together.” Those who will be recognized are; Jeremy Batchelor, Debra Caffey, Sharon King, Carmelo Lebron, Dr. Michael Saville, and Tiffaney Trella.
