The Youngstown Board of Education announced their National Bullying Prevention Month Poster Contest winners at the November 29 board meeting. The board received over 130 entries from scholars across the district. The scholars’ submissions represented the true meaning behind the contest, which was to bring awareness about the impact of bullying and cyberbullying but also help spread the message of kindness and love.

The board was overwhelmed with the thought and creativity that went into everyone’s submissions, and they truly had a difficult decision to make when deciding the winners. Eleven scholars were selected, with two top-prize winners in the high school category and one in first place in middle and elementary school.

Award winners who could attend the meeting received prizes from the board in person. Thank you to The Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, The Ohio State University  Young Scholars Program (Youngstown Office) for donating books, and Tiffany Payiavlas for donating gift cards.

Thank you to all the scholars who entered and for your commitment to non bullying.
