It is with a heavy heart that we are sharing the news that two of our middle schools recently experienced sudden tragedies. We mourn East Middle School scholar Logan Taylor, who passed away earlier this month. The other scholar's name from a separate incident has not been made public, so we are unable to confirm their identity at this time. Our heartfelt sympathies are extended to both families and our school families for these untimely losses.
Logan loved basketball. With his family's blessing, East Middle School will host a Celebration of Life basketball tournament in Logan's memory on Tuesday, November 21, during school hours. The basketball tournament will be a way for scholars and staff to celebrate Logan’s life and leave for the Thanksgiving Holiday on a positive note.
For all scholars and staff, wrap-around support from the district's social workers and counselors is available and on hand to provide emotional support.
It is unfathomable to articulate into words the loss of one child, let alone two. We encourage you to please check in on one another and be a source of comfort for each other during this challenging time.
