Assorted photos from bear day

East High School celebrated "Bear Day," on Friday, May 19. Scholars had the opportunity to spend the Bear Bucks money they earned, throughout the year, at "stations." Stations included the BearDrop Dunk Tank, Ohio Mobile Gaming, caricature art, and more.

Scholars earned their Bear Bucks based on the district and school's expectations of behavior, attendance, grades, and participation in extracurricular activities such as sports and clubs. Classroom teachers awarded Bear Bucks based on PBIS norms and expectations, outstanding academic performance, and involvement in community service through the school.

As a result of the implementation of the Bear Bucks program, overall building attendance increased by 2%, and the chronic absenteeism rate decreased by 9.7%. Thank you to YCSD educator, Venus Cataldo, for spearheading the Bear Bucks program, and everyone else involved to make this special day come together.
